Project Description

This loving family of seven are living in an old three-bedroom home in Hamad Town. All of the children are school aged, while the Father is now retired and the Mother is a stay-at-home mom.

The family have been living in their home for a very long time and desperately require a home renovation to improve their quality of life. The worst two rooms in need of immediate attention are the kitchen and the garage, which is currently in very poor condition.

The entrance hallway connecting the three bedrooms badly needs restoration and a fresh coat of paint; the paint is currently falling off the walls in large sheets, exposing holes of and cracked walls. The bedroom shared by the four young boys is without A/C, while the remaining A/C units badly require servicing. In the kitchen – typically the heart of any home – the cupboards and wall tiles are falling off and the window curtain is in pieces. The kitchen also has no A/C and is not equipped with an oven.

The family’s garage is directly connected to the kitchen through a door. Currently the family use the garage for their cooking needs, however there is minimal lighting available and the roof of the garage is threatening to fall in and collapse. In the wintertime, the family are constantly forced to switch off their electricity because of water leaking in from the ruined garage roof.

The family share the two bathrooms in the house. While the bathrooms in the house have recently been re-tiled, the family is in great need of some proper plumbing work. The bathrooms also need to be upgraded with additional shelving to accommodate everyone’s storage needs.
